AT&T’s Merger Conditions: A Defeat? Or Irrelevant? With the evident advantage of the BellSouth merger being the full integration of Cingular into AT&T, the question is to what extent the multiple conditions imposed by the FCC settlement on the deal amount to a potential drag on AT&T. “AT&T has given ground on universal broadband, BellSouth’s wireless spectrum, low priced broadband access, and some other issues,” states Victor Schnee, President of Boschulte Schnee Group. LLC. “Meanwhile,” he adds, “ the issue that will gain the most attention is ‘Net Neutrality’ because its advocates think they have won a big victory through the FCC deal approving AT&T-BellSouth’s merger. That fight, however, is far from over. The settlement has numerous holes in it as well as serious enforcement issues.” Boschulte Schnee Group (BSG) offers unique Business Case Analysis, using a proprietary model.
