Verizon-FairPoint: More To ComeThe consequences of procrastination are to be seen in the recent Verizon-FairPoint telephone line sale deal (1.5 million lines in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont).“FairPoint got a super deal,” states Victor Schnee, President of Boschulte Schnee Group, LLC (BSG). “Verizon has known for three years that it has to de-consolidate out of the telco local business, but they’ve hesitated and aren’t going to get the kind of prices they could have in the past.” “We expect Verizon to attempt to restructure itself into a wireless, FiOS and enterprise business based company,” added Al Boschulte, Chairman of BSG. “But they’ve got unresolved issues in both wireless and FiOS, and they will need to continue to step up the pace of their moves to resolve these.” Boschulte Schnee Group (BSG) offers unique Business Case Analysis, using a proprietary model. The issues of the de-consolidation of the wireline giants, their restructuring, their wireless future and the emergence of new types of competitors such as the new FairPoint are included in the following BSG Business Case Analysis studies to be issued in coming months: BSG Program: THE FUTURE OF TELECOM COMPETITION ("FTC") Report No. 1: “Super BOCs – AT&T & Verizon” Report No. 2: “Telecom Competitors” Report No. 3: “Wireless Competitors” BSG is an expert independent research firm specializing in telecom, wireless, IP, cable/satellite and digital media.
